There are various types of Tibetan boots. Tibetan boots are characterized by its variety in styles and sizes. The people either male or female in all ages can wear this kind of boots. Generally, all boots in Tibetan are made in the form of soft uppers and hard soles. Materials for making uppers and soles are also various. Tibetan boots have a history of more than 600 years in a small village of Jiangshijia, in Huangnan Tibet Autonomous Prefecture.
Character of Tibetan boots
When you walking in the street, you will see either Tibetan women or men wear boots and all kinds of boots are straight without distinguishing left and right and without men and women style. They are just divided into long leg boots, short leg boots, unlined boots and cotton-padded boots.
Generally flat-heeled, the sole is made of cow leather, stitched cloth, leather wrapped, thin and thick soles. The instep and upper are made mainly with pub, woolen cloth, apron materials, velvet or leather. The color is exquisitely adopted. Some of the insteps are embroidered with silk thread into different designs, others are edged with golden silk thread. The toe cap can be shaped into square, round, sharp and hook. At the back of various boots, a 10cm-long mouth is opened for the convenience of putting on and taking off. Therefore, the Tibetan boots must have belts which are beautiful woolen handicrafts in various designs. The two ends are decorated by colorful ears.
Tibetan boots are not only beautiful and tasteful, but also comfortable, durable and wear well. They are very popular among Tibetans and also favored by other ethnic groups nearby.
Kinds of Tibetan Boots
There are many kinds of pulu boots, with the soles made of cowhide, which sometimes differs in thickness by about 3 to 4 centimeters. The upper and leg part of the boots are made of different colors of pulu, and various patterns are embroidered on them.
Boots in Different Regions
Boots of Chamdo and northern Tibet are simple, honest, and tasteful, while boots of Shannan and Xigaze are delicate, careful, and refined. Boots in the Lhasa region incorporate the strong points of different places, including bright colors.
